Originally Mexico recognized the NOM safety mark (Figure 1), and the United States and Canada safety signs (such as CUL, ETL, CSA) were not recognized by Mexico. However, as the level of cooperation in the South American Free Trade Area increases, the Mexican government will accept products certified by the National Laboratory (NRTL) standards (information technology equipment, audio and video products, and household appliances) in Table 1 to enter the Mexican market. Mandatory requirements for NOM certification.

Under normal circumstances, the NOM logo often appears with NYCE or ANCE (as shown in Figures 2 and 3):
——NOM NYCE: applicable to electronic products, communication products and data processing equipment, but excluding home appliances;
——NOM ANCE: Suitable for home appliances, including household electric instruments, electric hand tools, etc.

Certification plan content
There are 7 authentication modes for compulsory authentication. See Table 2 for specific authentication content required for each authentication mode.

Among them, the most commonly used authentication mode is M1. In this certification mode, all tests are performed every year. Issue a NOM certificate after passing the test. The validity period of a NOM certificate is usually one year, after which a periodic test is required. However, if the certification process includes an inspection of the quality system, the certificate is valid for 3 years. Certificate holders are usually individual importers, manufacturers, and distributors. Foreign manufacturers can apply for certificates through a certification body recognized by the Mexican Standardization Commission.
