According to Resolution 92/98, which came into force in 1998, Argentina implements S-Mark compulsory certification for electrical and electronic equipment with an input voltage in the range of AC 50-1000Vac, or DC 50-1500Vdc. The resolution divides the products into 4 groups, which will be implemented step by step from 2001. Until August 1, 2004, all products must be certified by S-Mark to enter the Argentine market. Argentina is a member of the CB system, and the CB certificate and report are recognized, which can save a lot of troubles of repeated testing and sending samples. Argentina S-Mark safety certification does not require factory inspection. Applicants should provide Spanish nameplate (including safety warning mark) and instruction manual. The S-Mark logo should be accompanied by the certification body's logo.

S-MARK certification technical information
1. Argentina voltage is AC220V / 50Hz
2. There are two types of plugs, divided into grounded Class I and ungrounded Class II
3. The plug of the power cord should be verified by IRAM or TUV Argentina S-Mark
4. Argentina has 3 different plugs:
<250V / 10A Class I (IRAM 2073 standard)
<250V / 20A Class I (IRAM 2073 standard)
<250V / 10A Class II (IRAM 2063 standard)
S-MARK certification procedure
The normalization process is some of the necessary measures to make the product immediately available on the Argentine market.
Here are some ways to get products to market through the `` normalization process '':
· Install appropriate power cord set
· Refit the power cord set to a qualified power cord set
· Refit the power plug to a qualified Argentina plug
· Agent S-Mark logo / tag
According to the difference of imported products, the assembly can refer to the following operation methods:
Products with power jack
For products using additional power cord sets, the applicant can decide for himself whether to import additional power cord sets into Argentina. If the power cord is not attached, it must be mentioned in the test report. The power cord set has not been evaluated, and it will be indicated on the certificate. If a power cord set is added in Argentina, it is part of the certification. Germany's Rhein Argentina branch will take a "normalization procedure" and go to the warehouse where the power plug is replaced for a simplified factory inspection.
2. Products with fixed power cord
If the fixed power plug attached to the product imported to Argentina does not pass the Argentina safety regulations approval, the local seller or importer must replace the plug approved by the Argentine certification unit. Rhein will perform a simplified factory inspection before issuing the certificate.
3. Products without S-Mark logo or correct product labeling
The S-Mark logo can be added as soon as the product arrives in Argentina, but before it goes on sale. Rhein will perform a simplified factory inspection before issuing the certificate.
