VDE certification introduction
The VDE Testing and Certification Institute in Offenbach, Germany is a research institute affiliated with the German Institute of Electrical Engineers (Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) for short) and was established in 1920. As a neutral and independent institution, VDE's laboratory inspects and certifies electrical products in accordance with the application, in accordance with German VDE national standards or European EN standards, or IEC International Electrotechnical Commission standards. In many countries, the VDE certification mark is even more famous than the national certification mark, especially recognized and valued by importers and exporters.
In China, the diversification of the export direction of electrical products has made importers in Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia and other regions have put forward requirements such as GS (Germany), BEAB (English), IMQ (Italy) and other safety certification and CE mark requirements. However, most complete machine factories have reduced these requirements to zero during the certification process, requiring their respective electrical safety component suppliers to ensure that they receive a high level of safety certification mark. This is also an increasing number of component production. External reasons why companies want to get the VDE mark.

VDE certification process
1 Submit the formal application form and structural parameter form --- it is an important document for applying for VDE,
2 Application confirmation --- After VDE receives the formal application form and structural parameter form, it will formally confirm the application in writing within about 2-4 weeks, and send the invoice, factory inspection questionnaire and other materials.
3 Sample submission --- When the VDE application is confirmed, it will inform the specific sample submission requirements and the relevant standards on which the test is based. After the samples are completed, they must be tested by themselves or sent to the relevant domestic laboratories for prediction. After the prediction is qualified, the sample can be safely and accurately sent to VDE for testing by Speedpost.
1) The applicant will be notified as soon as all the test items have passed.
2) Inspection results may also be defective. For some minor defects, the certification body communicates with VDE. As long as it is slightly modified, it is not necessary to resend the sample, and VDE can issue the certificate.
3) When the test results show significant defects, the certification body will discuss the reasons for the failure with the applicant. If necessary, please ask VDE to send back the failed samples for reference analysis. After the sample has been modified, go through the re-inspection procedure and send the sample again until it is qualified. If the sample is resent within six months, the cost of retesting will be greatly reduced.
4 Factory inspection --- Factory inspection before certificate issuance and fixed or irregular supervision and review after certification. Before the factory inspection, the certification body appointed experts to assist the manufacturing plant to conduct self-inspection of production facilities, experimental equipment, metrology and the entire quality system against VDE requirements. During the inspection, the inspectors request rectification and assist the manufacturer to discuss the rectification measures as soon as possible and implement them promptly until the re-inspection is qualified.
5 Certificate issuance --- On the premise that the factory inspection is successfully passed, if the sample test passes, VDE will notify the applicant of the result in time, and the VDE certificate will be issued soon.

VDE certification application rules
1. The first consultation --- The applicant provides the company with a company profile and a description of the current status of the VDE product to be certified, such as: product model, name, parts list, drawing, working principle diagram, technical parameter table, instructions for use, etc.
2. Establish agency relationship --- the client (applicant) signs an agency agreement with the agent, and further clarifies the responsibilities, powers and obligations of both parties in the form of a written contract to ensure that the two parties can cooperate closely during the application process and enable the application Unfolded smoothly and achieved the intended purpose. At the same time, the power of attorney is the legal basis that the company must submit to VDE to prove that it has been entrusted by the applicant.
3. Formal application form and structural parameter form --- it is an important document for applying for VDE. The applicant can provide relevant information to entrust the company to translate and fill it out, and send it back to VDE after being signed by the applicant.
4. Application confirmation --- After VDE receives the formal application form and structural parameter form, it will formally confirm the application in writing within 2-4 weeks, and send the invoice, factory inspection questionnaire and other materials.
5. Sample submission --- When the VDE application is confirmed, it will inform the specific sample submission requirements and the relevant standards on which the test is based. The company can assist VDE applicants to obtain relevant standards and clarify all relevant test items and test methods. After the samples are completed, they must be tested by themselves or sent to the relevant domestic laboratories for prediction. After the prediction is qualified, the samples can be safely and accurately sent to VDE for testing by Speedpost.
1) Once all the test items are passed, the applicant will be notified in a timely manner.
2) Inspection results may also be defective. Some minor defects, communicate with VDE, as long as it is slightly corrected, you do not need to resend the sample, VDE can issue the certificate.
3) When there are significant defects in the test results, the company will discuss the reasons for the failure with the applicant. If necessary, ask VDE to send back the failed samples for reference analysis. After the sample has been modified, the company will go through the re-inspection procedure and send the sample again until it is qualified. If the sample is resent within six months, the cost of retesting will be greatly reduced.
6 Factory inspection --- Factory inspection before certification and fixed or irregular supervision and review after certification. Before the factory inspection, Shanghai Dexin will assist the manufacturing plant to conduct self-inspection of production facilities, experimental equipment, metrology and the entire quality system against VDE requirements. During the inspection, the inspectors request rectification and assist the manufacturer to discuss the rectification measures as soon as possible and implement them promptly until the re-inspection is qualified.
7 Certificate issuance --- On the premise that the factory inspection is successfully passed, if the sample test is qualified, VDE will notify Shanghai Dexin in time and the VDE certificate will be issued soon.
Shortcuts to obtaining VDE marks for electrical components
Generally speaking, there are two ways to carry out type approval experiments for VDE certification: the first way is for the enterprise to directly consult VDE and complete the application process, and mail a considerable number of test samples to Germany according to the requirements of the VDE inspection engineer, The VDE standard conducts inspections item by item, and pays all inspection costs at the working price of a German engineer based on the total time spent on VDE testing workload. The second way is for the company to apply for a "CB test" to a CB laboratory that has a good relationship with VDE in China, and then pass the CB test report to a VDE-certified type test report. We know that the CB test certificate is uniformly formulated by the Certification Body Committee (CCB) of the International Electrotechnical Commission's Electrical Product Safety Certification Organization (IECEE) and is a certificate issued by a certification body recognized by IECEE-CCN in a country (in China, CCEE is the issuing unit of the CB test certificate. It is used together with the attached test report to notify the certification bodies of other countries that samples of certain electrical products have been tested in accordance with the unified IEC standard. More than 30 countries in the world have joined the CB system, and VDE is also a CB member laboratory, so the CB test report issued by us can basically be directly accepted, so the testing of major projects can be completed in China. However, if there is a national difference between individual experimental items such as the German DIN standard and the IEC standard, the VDE engineer will notify the agent and send individual samples to supplement the difference experimental items, and then the test results can be comprehensively confirmed.
Comparing the two methods, it is not difficult to see that the first method is to apply for VDE because it is an overseas test, and it is difficult for the company to understand the entire experiment. In addition, the probability of passing the VDE test once is generally small, so it is necessary to contact back and forth repeatedly. It is difficult to control the project cycle when sending samples overseas. In addition, the unit labor cost of VDE German technicians is still much higher than domestic technicians, so the total cost may be higher. The second method seems to be divided into two stages for domestic testers and foreign supplements. In fact, it takes advantage of the relative familiarity of the product's technical status with local testing stations in the country, and can promptly improve when problems are found, as well as domestic and foreign labor prices. Poor conditions. Through the operation of some actual projects, practice has proved that the use of CB test reports to apply for VDE certification can be said to be a time-saving and economical shortcut.
